The wait is almost over — and we’re heading back to one of our favourite venues!
We are thrilled to officially announce that the GPC Ireland Winter Open 2026 will take place this December at Strength & Fitness Gym, Carrick-on-Suir — our trusted home for so many memorable competitions over the years. This will be our full power event and the final GPC Ireland gathering of 2026, making it more than just another meet: it’s our end-of-year celebration of strength, grit, and community.
Coming Home to Strength & Fitness Gym
There’s a special feeling when we walk through the doors of Strength & Fitness Gym. For years, this venue has stood as a pillar of powerlifting in the South East, hosting countless GPC events with excellence, care, and true passion for the sport. None of this would be possible without the incredible hospitality of AJ Cronin — our host, our supporter, and a true friend to every lifter who has stepped onto the platform here.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to AJ for opening his gym to us once again. His commitment, his attention to detail, and the outstanding facility he has built make every event here a pleasure to run and compete in. AJ, thank you — for your generosity, your consistency, and for giving our community a place to shine, year after year.
A Full Power Showcase — Open to All
This Winter Open is shaping up to be one of our best-attended meets of the year, with entries pouring in from across the country. Whether you’re chasing personal bests, hitting new milestones, or stepping onto the platform for the very first time, you belong here.
This is an open event — every lifter is welcome, regardless of experience level, age, or background. Spectators are equally encouraged to come along and cheer on the athletes: the energy in this gym on competition day is something you won’t want to miss. From the opening warm-ups to the final lift, you’ll find a community that lifts each other up — literally and figuratively.
