City Gym is an Irish Powerlifting Federation gym catering for Raw Powerlifters
There is a fantastic gem of a gym in Limerick city that caters exclusively for Powerlifting.
City Gym in Sexton Street, Limerick city is a dedicated personal and group training Raw Powerlifting gym owned and run by Gar Ben and is celebrating its 10th anniversary on 17th August in Clayton hotel Limerick.
City Gym has not only thousands of kilos of calibrated plates but has specialised bars for Bench, Deadlift and Squat, Land Mine attachments for T-Bar rows, Chin/Pull Up bars, 3 Power Racks, Dedicated Squat/Bench area containing 3 Benches and 3 Squat Racks and 3 Deadlift Platforms as well as Dumbbells, Belt Squat, Leg Press, Personal Training Room ( Upstairs ), male & female changing room and shower areas, reception/shop area with toilet, toilet on gym floor area and of course some of Irish Powerlifting Federations finest athletes both male and female
The GymSpy team of myself, Liam Beville (voted GPC IRE Powerlifting favourite Powerlifter by its members ) and Niall Reddan ( voted GPC members 2nd best Powerlifter ) were members of City Gym in the past and on occasion we visit to use the vast quantity of calibrated plates on offer.
City Gym have shower facilities, a foreign concept to Niall Reddan, of which Niall is not used to hot running water and so this was a very special treat for Niall. It was heartwarming for me to see his eyes fill up when he was allowed to wash his hands after training.

As previously mentioned that I have been to City Gym to use the calibrated plates that all competitive Powerlifters need to use in preparation for competition. I find City Gym to be both friendly and welcoming to me at these times. Here I am doing my final preparation for competition.
I am seen here preparing for my opening lift at GPC Nationals in April 2024 of 260kg which is a World Record in Masters 4 category in GPC Powerlifting.
I will soon be moving to city Gym to train fulltime so all enquiries to GPC competitions are welcomed.
