Bill Healy Irelands International Head Coach

Bill began lifting in 1983 competing in his first competition a year later in the universal club Dublin and winning his first of many competitions , he became a member of the Hercules club competing and winning his first competition in the club all at the b/w of 67 1/2 kg’s.

In 2022, Bill Healy received the first Lifetime Achievement Award from GPC Ireland. Billy received this award in recognition of nearly 40 years of powerlifting, representing Ireland nationally and internationally in multiple federations and events. Overall Bill has won 30 world and 26 European titles and 40+ best lifter awards in four associations. His best lifts are in the I.P.F. SQ 265kgs, BP 165kgs and 260 DL in the over 50’s masters at the Celtic nations.

Bill first represented Ireland in 1993 in Moscow at the europeans breaking the BP masters record lifting 155kgs at the BW of 75kgs, in the same year winning his first of 12 titles at the Celtic nations representing Ireland.

In 2005 Bill took a break away from training until his retirement from work in 2010 when he went back training within a year he was lifting at the I.P.O. & G.P.C., in 2011 Bill lifted at the W.P.F. & G.P.C. europeans and worlds in BP & powerlifting. Most recently, Bill won his category and set a new World Record in Deadlift at the GPC World Championship in Slovakia this past October.

Bill lifted in the W.P.F. and W.P.U. up until 2015 winning 6 gold in the worlds & 6 gold in the Europeans, Bill broke all the world records in the 60/65 + 65/70 age groups in the 75kgs and 82 1/2 kgs in BP and powerlifting in the W.P.F. & W.P.U. Bill decided to focus on lifting in the G.P.C. association from 2015 to the day he announced his retirement in 2022. Bill may have retired from competing but is still very active in supporting his team mates in Hercules and the GPC.
